Incident-based civilian fire fatalities compiled by the NC OSFM Fire Investigations Unit, published in the annual North Carolina Civilian Fire Fatality Report. Exact, un-suppressed counts including 0 (genuine zeros printed). Per-year county counts reconcile to the statewide annual totals (2020:120, 2021:134, 2022:151, 2023:145, 2024:122 = 672). Note: the report's printed 5-year-total column for Nash County (9) is off by 1 from its annual cells (sum 8); the annual cells are used here for internal consistency, so the statewide 5-year total is 672 versus the report's headline of 673.
